Barb Schoenherr for Milwaukee County Supervisor District 6

Activities:

  • Attended the Fair Deal town hall meeting.  Put on by County Chair Lipscomb and Supervisors Schmitt and Cullen in Wauwatosa.  Milwaukee County receives a lower return of tax monies proportionately than other counties in the state.  I fully support advocating for a greater return of our tax dollars to fund services for the citizens of Milwaukee County.

  • April 10, 2019 State Budget Hearing at the Oak Creek Community Center.  I had the privilege to testify for Medicaid expansion and improved reimbursement.  The closure of skilled nursing facilities due to this issue has displaced elders in our county.  Due to inadequate reimbursement to make the bills, some nursing homes have had to close and vulnerable seniors face the consequences.  This is unacceptable.

  • Successful rezoning and preservation of the County Grounds.  As a member of the County Grounds Coalition steering committee, I have worked with the County Board to help preserve a portion of the ecologically rich County Grounds.  Economic development is vital to the tax base to meet the bills, but we also need to preserve what feeds the soul.
